Re: slower hounds
Dave, Not saying they have to be mouthy but they won't be tight mouth. I would not describe Cash as tight mouth. I think people confuse babbling idiot with dogs that will bark a cold track before they jump it. Huge difference in my opinion. A dogs that can cold trail and jump a rabbit is priceless,...

PBGA runs a closer dog than PP from my limited exposureWhat format promotes a dog right between Mid-West and UGBF?

Re: Kimbrel's Kick Em Up Kane
Looking for info on him and this offspring. Like hunt, line control, check work and speed. Thinks A couple years ago I got a chance to rabbit hunt with Kane and Neil. He has good speed and control. I was most impressed with his hunt and check work. He would jump rabbits right behind other dogs. As go...

Re: Stud Dog - lemon with speed?
I raised and owned AKC LP FC, ARHA GR RCH , UKC HB CH , Double E Stone cold Mack, and FC JW's Lightning both of those hounds could stroll. Mack could stretch a pack of hounds and was explosive out of a check. Mack could run a rabbit so hard and fast that I saw him pull a ARHA HOF dog so hard in the...

Re: lbasset dogs
Before I got AKC registered beagles, I hunted a 3\4 beagle-1/4 Basset cross. I feel like they added a "wow" factor to the gun-dog. I may have just got lucky and had a good brood bitch, but I had a lot of fun for a bunch of years with that cross. The bitch was a beagle /basset. I bred her to three di...

I'd be willing to bet that the boy has heard many discussions about shooting dogs. His father must be a stand up guy to have the boy call and confess. Hope he learns a valuable life lesson. Sometimes facing the guy you screwed is the worst possible punishment.

Re: Expectation of 13" class vs 15" class
I think it's really hard to judge mid west type hounds. They run hard and its hard to stay on a pack. I feel a lot of judges, judge check to check, and there is nothing wrong with that, sometimes that' all you can see. I like a dog that gobbles up checks long checks, but love a dog that carves the p...

Re: Most important in your kennel???
Hunt, nose, accurate mouth while moving in the correct direction, speed (only because I hate slow dogs), line control, stamina, and handle are all important. If you have some of each, you'll have yourself a nice rabbit dog. Leave one of these out, your in trouble. Jmo
