Re: Dog food $
I cant feed a corn based food. The food I have been feeding for years with excellent results Royal Canin's Sensible Choice chicken and rice has gone from $30 for a 40 lb bag to $50 for a 40lb bag and I got a letter from the company yesterday telling me they are stopping the breeders program which w...

We have one female that comes in once a year only and it looks like her pups are following suit with this. Fortunately she comes in season late spring so at least during the best running she is not down and out... Thanks everyone for helping ease my mind about this! I'd heard some bitches only came...

Do you know if he could have been in a kennel fight? The same thing happened to one of my older males last year after he got loose and a large dog roaming the area got him by the neck. The attack only lasted a few seconds and there was only the smallest puncture wound but this dog was hoarse for sev...

I had one that took a year and a half. Most of mine are 9+ months apart. I don't like the part you mentioned about palpating her abdomen roughly though... I just don't see what that could do but POTENTIALLY cause her organ damage, or miscarriages of older fetuses . Yeah, thats what I'm mainly worri...

Bitch Not Coming into Heat
I have a young bitch that had her first heat when she was about 11-12 months old. She got out and tied with a littermate male  so a buddy breeding for years told me to palpate her abdomen roughly, that would get rid of any puppies. So I did that for a few days and she now has not been in heat...

Doghouse Insulating
I have got store bought large sized plastic doghouses with a wind flap on the door. For bedding I use straw. They're just not keeping the dogs warm enough and our weather is not too cold either- mid 20s here. I keep two dogs to one house for body heat, but that doesn't seem to be enough. I think the...

When I have it in a puppy I have it tacked. I wouldn't exclude a dog from breeding because of it because there are many factors that contribute to it but, if I were getting a lot of it say from one dog or bitch they'd be done ;-) I think it can be environmental as well as hereditary. Have you ever ...

I don't believe you can feed a puppy too much. In all the litters I've raised (probably close to 75), the fatter the better. At a young age puppies don't get the exersize that grown dogs get, so if they seem a little fat they will lose most of it as they get older. Just my experienes. hounddog Jim ...

Re: Best cheap dog food.
#4 Turbo $7.50 a bag 40lb Do you honestly think thats even worth feeding? To a performance dog no less? Not only do they have to buy the ingredients, manufacture the bags, but they are also making a profit on the food. What did a 40pound bag cost them to make, $1??? :ashamed: The quality of ingredi...
