Rabbitsmoker; I'm certainley new here and don't have a bunch of experience with beagels, but I have owned bird dogs all my life. You might have your vet run a blood test. This sounds to me like your dog might have diabetes. I've only seen it once, but it was darn hard to figure out. All best, CJF
