I did the same thing and your 100% correct, they will have tape worms. The question you got to ask is does it help a young dogs hunt better? I now save all the organ meat and rib cages and boil them like you said. No more worms.

I'm with Aubrey and I can add that letting a young dog run down a wounded rabbit and opening it up and giving him/her its first taste of blood is about as good as it gets.
