Re: shock collar methods/advise
I agree with most all responses and I will add I feel its best to teach the command first then reinforce it with the collar. I have three 4 month old pups that will kennel, come, and not touch their food [ wo] without a collar. Hotdogs are a good reward as you can let them bite off little pieces. Do...

Re: Running prenant bitch
Just a final update, of the five pups I kept the three I wanted and placed one of the two with a 17 yr. old and the other with a 30yr old with 2 young boys. I couldn't be happier to start another chapter in my book of beagles. Thanks to all of you for your help and keep those dogs running.

Don't stop just manage it better. Get a portable pulse ox for about $30 and carry a spare tank or a small concentrator. Good luck and God bless.

Re: Give Me A Break !!!!!
I feel your pain brother. I've been running at a city park next to the Great Miami River for over 12 yrs.. Since I started they've built a new road access and mini airport for the electronic planes. They've called the police on me twice for crossing their runway with my dogs. Nothing has ever become...

Re: Water intoxication
I agree that there is more to this. Four days in transport and how was it cared for? I would think the opposite as in dehydration. Hope it turns out OK.

Re: Running prenant bitch
Just an update for those that followed this post. Wormed pups today at two weeks with average weight of 2lbs and they have their eyes open. I ordered some Nupro to supplement Mom and pups diet. She's eating 2-3 times per day with meat and or eggs snack but you can just tell she's lost some muscle ma...

Re: Scenario - open discussion
You'll feel like the ship has left port and you weren't on it. I've been down to one dog and just got liberated with pups. To add to what you have said I just feel my dogs have the instincts to control the hunt. They Know well what they are doing well. Kennel in the suburbs and chained to a doghouse...

Re: Hook tailed puppy?
I went on U-tube and there's a lot of " how to" videos on the subject. Never seen this in a litter and not on the daddy's side either and I would have to see it again before I'd say it qualifies as a fault. Your passing on an interesting bit of beagle history on that I didn't know existed. I chose t...

Hook tailed puppy?
One of my pups has a down and towards the front hook tail, about the length that would bloody up in the field. Is this a vet fix or is there something I can do? Born 9/4 at 730 pm. Thanks.

Re: Running prenant bitch
Well she delivered 5 healthy pups yesterday evening. Couldn't be happier. She had one stuck in the birth canal for about a half hr. and had me worried for a while. I could get two fingers In around its neck but couldn't move it, but she finally pushed it out. Thanks for all your comments and help an...

Re: Running prenant bitch
I'm a city beagler in an old subdivision til I get my butt just south of Lake Dale Hollow, Tenn.. She never stops wandering and there's no telling where she'd end up. Fully insulated doghouse in a covered kennel is the place she'll be. I'll just remove the straw about day 57 and keep an eye on her. ...

Re: Running prenant bitch
Thanks for the info. So I should do a clean up and leave it bare wood or a coat of paint and throw washable item in there? One would never think a piece of straw would be a problem like that.

Re: Running prenant bitch
He's 100% right. All the work has already been done. Just need to gather up the welping supplies and continue doing what I've been doing. I've always used fresh straw in the doghouse and change it at regular intervals. Let nature do her thing with a little help from above.

Re: Running prenant bitch
Had her out Sat. 27th and she ran two in about an hr. or the same rabbit twice. She has a lot of pep in her step and I'm starting to worry. I said to her " You really shook them up good tonight". She's got a pretty good sag going on now and has put on some weight. She was out of a litter of eight an...

Re: Tattooing for beagles n equipment
I will have grade beagle pups from hunting stock in a couple of wks., not sure what your interest are but my dogs will make you smile in the field. I only breed for myself and have mixed this line for 50yrs. I'm not interested in tattoos but maybe we can work something out. Get well soon.
