Re: Is finishing a dog to akc fc still a big acomplishment
Been in house about 3-4 months. Actually had little time to judge few trials this fall. Now it's time for my my son and I to kill some rabbits. Hopefully his ball playing will allow us enough time to hunt .

Re: Is finishing a dog to akc fc still a big acomplishment
OLD BLOOD, (Here is the poem I promised) Does finishing a dog in AKC mean a lot? More and more people seem to think not. If Mid-West dogs are getting too rough, Then it is up to the judges to say enough is enough. Now I’m a judge that don’t like the hounds to get too fast, Mainly because I like for ...

Re: Is finishing a dog to akc fc still a big acomplishment
Matt, I finished three hounds in the many years that I trialed. Only one hound was as clean and as good of a rabbit dog after finishing for their FC title. That was FC Blazing Trails Blue Baron, he was still a clean track running fool. However, he always lacked the hunt I liked when he was younger. ...

Re: Is finishing a dog to akc fc still a big acomplishment
After spending the last 30+ minutes reading all the various post I have been inspired to write a poem. However, before I share my rhyming words of wisdom and humor I would like to take a moment to share my opinion on the subject at hound!!! Is it a major accomplishment to finish a hound in the Mid-W...

Re: Jessamine Co. Beagle Club AKC SPO Feb 10-13, 2011
Shady, Rumor has it this year the rabbit population is much better on the CENTRAL KENTUCKY WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA. Mid-Ky had their trial around end of January and they had plenty of rabbits. I wasn’t there but the handlers I talked to, said most packs didn’t go 5 minutes before finding a bunny. H...

Re: CENTRAL INDIANA BEAGLE CLUB AKC SPO MIDWEST
Jim I’ve been too busy working on my house, who has time to jog and stay in running shape? Normally, I would be a little worried about having to judge a trial, especially big males knowing I’m not physically ready. However, I been assured that my judging partner is in tip, top shape and can get enou...

Re: wormer
What's the directions for using Valbazin? How much per beagle? Do you give only one day or three days in row? I know with most tape wormers you must give dose then wait 20-21 days give another treatment.
Thanks,
Earl

Re: any results for sundays coal mine classic
Don't know Neil or Kane, but a BIG CONGRATS! I heard two comments about winner of big male class, "little big male that can get it done"(I was told Kane maybe around 13 1/4 or 13 1/2 inches). Must have heart to run against big males at that size. Aslo heard "he is a rabbit dog" enough said! :n...

Handler with Class from Wurtland's Big Males
Not sure who to thank!!! Wish I knew his name but, older gentleman stayed until after the winner’s pack of the big males was over just to shake my hand and thank me for the hard work. He even asked this young lady with him (Maybe granddaughter) to shake my hand and thank me for the hard work. When t...

Re: South Ky. (Mid-West)SPO Licensed Trial
Never realized we had so many top notch poets in the Mid-West. :D On a serious note, talk to a guy this morning that said he had been running at the MILLER-WELCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA and ensured me that we had plenty of rabbits. Said cover was little think but shouldn't have any trouble finding ...

Re: South Ky. (Mid-West)SPO Licensed Trial
Come one come all, let’s have a ball. Bring your hound to South Ky.’s trial. South Ky. is honored to be a member of the Mid-West, And in my opinion this organization is far the best. Unlike others we don’t claim to have the best running ground But they’re still plenty of rabbits to be found We do cl...

Re: Field Trial Breeder or Hunting Breeder.
I would prefer a hound that does both, hunt/trial. At least if a dog is being trialed then everyone can watch it run, in various conditions. If the owner puts the hound on the trial circuit then everyone can see what type of hound it is for themselves and don't have to take the owner or owners buddy...

Re: competiveness in a dog?
Most of us are saying the same thing. Competitive dogs /speed is great if they can control it and not mess up the pack. BUT many competitive, flashy dogs can’t run with speed and control. If it is always about speed/flash then run Gray hounds. Those fast gray hounds could probably compete or win a t...
