Hey Ron, I have a female out of Free Jack that I really like. She has produced some real nice young dogs too! I really liked the way Free Jack ran when I saw him.

Re: Is it Time For 10 Second Checks in Little Pack?

Unless I missed it, I really haven't seen any argument about how waiting 15 seconds to score a check brings back the best dog or betters the breed. With entries at an all time low at local hunts, and all the support on here, I wonder what it would take for ARHA and the Little Pack Board to consider ...

Re: Is it Time For 10 Second Checks in Little Pack?

I see some Midwest guys posting on here maybe we need to start a new thread on what needs changed in it.... Just a thought, but maybe the Midwest guys still have some interest in Little Pack but the dogs have changed. For a long time Midwest and Little Pack dogs were alike. Now, I think there is mo...

Re: Is it Time For 10 Second Checks in Little Pack?

I like the idea of making the check time 10 seconds. I think a lot of people need to remember just because your dog never shut his/her mouth of doesn't mean that they are not having 15 second checks or loses. On the same line just because the dogs have been broke down (not barking) for more than 15...

Re: Is it Time For 10 Second Checks in Little Pack?

It seems like there are many people in favor of changing checks to 10 seconds. When Shawn Sexton, who has judged as much anybody the last few years, and Jimmy Abshire who was around back in the day both see the need to shorten the check time, I think that says a lot. Back when Everett Morgan first w...

Is it Time For 10 Second Checks in Little Pack?

When ARHA Little Pack started most of the dogs entered were from rabbit hunters just bringing their hunting dogs to trials. In the last 10 years it seems like the dogs have gotten a lot faster and much rougher. When it takes a 15 second breakdown to score, this rewards the rougher dogs that swing ou...

Re: little pack world hunt

I was out every round either as a handler or spectator for the entire World Hunt and had a blast. I saw guys giving their all as judges in every cast, running their guts out trying to be fair to the hounds and handlers. I saw great sportsmanship with handlers thanking judges and congratulating winne...

Re: Winter Cottontail Video

Thanks for the kind comments about the website. Keeping a blog of running is already interesting for me to be able to look back. If you haven't seen it, you can check it out at Logan Elm Beagles . For anyone that hasn't videoed their dogs, I would highly recommend giving it a try. It's the best thin...

Got a couple of pretty nice dogs in that pack!!
A couple looked pretty good, a couple didn't. There's no hiding, good or bad when you shoot a video, even when you wish they would.

Winter Cottontail Video

This is a video of Logan Elm Beagles running cottontail on February 17, 2015. The temperature was about 8 when we started with a couple of inches of snow.

Re: Jessamine Kentucky trial entries ?

Does it hurt Midwest entries when guys continue to run Field Champions after they finish just to win Hound of the Year? I am just wondering if a guy continues to get beat by a dog with 10, 12, 15, or more wins if eventually he would just stay home. I wouldn't think so. I think if you had a good dog...

Re: Jessamine Kentucky trial entries ?

Just my opinion if you put on the AKC trail you shouldn't put your dog in the trail especially if you are the chairperson or a judge. If just doesn't look right even if you do have the best dog in the cast and end up placing several dogs in the trail. Clicks yes there are several and once people fi...
