my $.02.... 15 second loss is a check, I'd even call it a semi-hard check. We run very controlled dogs compared to most LP style dogs and 15 seconds is a long time. we have some longer than that, and many shorter than that... but if EVERY dog in the pack stops barking, thats a check. (assuming you d...

BJK, I'm in the same area as you. We've actually met once. The last few weeks of hunting season was real tough. Ice, snow and 20 degree highs... that and we had a warm spell right before it and I think some had started breeding... so finding rabbits out and about was tough at best. We were still abl...

I 100% agree/believe fast dogs on a bad scent day would be less than stellar in those situations. I dont know that any dog would look stellar running a rabbit on bare red clay. And yes, pen rabbits do get smart! 9 out of 10 times our dogs catch a rabbit is either injury or the rabbit tried to squat ...

I prefer med/upper med speed dogs. I prefer line control over speed for my day to day running. I dont want a walkie talkie dog though. I like for the dogs to run in a TIGHT bunch, not spread out over a distance. I want them to run like a pack of ants, if one over steps the line, the next in line sho...

I doubt, and would bet big money that NOBODY owns a dog that weather and scent conditions dont AFFECT their running. That was never stated or argued in this post. Some dogs are better equiped for poor conditions. I'd be willing to bet any dog we have would have a hard time running a hare in several ...

Larry G sure is fishing for SOMETHING. You've pasted different parts of my post, and misconstrued it several times. One last time. 1. Weather plays no part in whether we go. 2. Our dogs seem to run rabbits when others said theirs couldnt run a lick. When I said it played no part in my hunting days, ...

First off, I wouldnt sell them for $1000 each. Was offered $1000 for one a few months back and didnt take it. Sorry. If you want to just come see them run, come on. If we dont jump, run and full circle a rabbit on a day that fits both of our schedules, i'll pay for your gas and buy your lunch. I NEV...

i'll agree with that THALL. I've hunted in colder weather than 15, and done well. Just havent had the day when they couldnt run a lick. Seen plenty of rough days, but they could still get him around with a little extra work and few more checks. Maybe I should re-phrase... our bad running days are mu...
