I got a 2 month old Beagle on a Sunday. On Monday my wife phoned me & said she thought the pup was dying- horrible noise- then realized she was on a rabbit. She died last May at 15 years- all of them in our house with several other dogs. She would hunt all day if allowed. She hunted up to a week bef...

I'd hesitate using Bucket method. You don't want a scared dog on the bench. Combine the other posts. Start on the ground & use treats. Hold the treat near dog's nose but don't let her get it for a few minutes. Are you using a collar & lead? Use a proper choke chain or slip noose collar right below h...

Carolyn, Maybe you ought to put the kennel name on this board. $600 - $ 700 is ridiculous for a pet quality Beagle. I've had long-time "pets" that I would not sell for that amount but I'd never buy a new one for that much. Free or cheap Beagles can be found & the rescues are full of Beagles. We show...

Our beagles snort & wheeze & from what I've heard alot of them do. It has something to do with a soft palette that makes them "reverse sneeze". Sometimes they do it on a lead but most times just start snorting-like sucking in gulps of air. To stop it, try rubbing the throat or covering the nostrils....

Remember Korey Stringer, Minnesota Vikings, 2002? Died or melted due to practice in high heat. Apparently forced to practice by the coach. He was supposedly tough too. Just an example- there are lots more.

Dogs cannot digest raw egg whites. They can digest the yolk. Raw egg white will usually cause a problem, especially if given alot. Premium feed should contain all dog needs but it probably would like treats also. Boil the egg.

Big AL is right. Dog will push against force. When he is rocked back, if you try to push him forward, he wll push back even more. You want to exert force opposite of what you really want him to do. If you want him to stand forward try exerting force to move him back. He should push forward.

Our dogs are all loose in the house when we are not home. But we do start with crate training. You do not need a spike collar for training. Get a proper choke chain collar & 10 foot lead. The collar has to be properly used- up close to ears & with fast jerks on the leash. Its called choke collar but...
