Swamper - If someone shot one of my dogs I never said it wouldn't bother me. In fact, I specifically said I'd feel sad about it, even hurt or angry. But if it was MY fault the dog out out & harassed someone & was killed as a result, I would not take out my emotions on the other person. That wouldn't...

Greg H - Has it occured to you that perhaps the extra shots were simply warning shots into the air to scare the dog off? That is just as likley has the man being a poor shot. Perhaps he gave a couple warning shots & when the dog wouldn't scram he capped it. This would account for both the number of ...

Swamper - I have been in that "idiot's" shoes. We used to have a pet rabbit named Hoss we loved dearly & neighborhood dogs - to include a beagle - used to harass him. The 1st time we ran them off. The 2nd time they would have gotten a bullet. But you're right in that I wouldn't have shot them w/ 00 ...

Swamper - you have me very much mistaken sir. If they shot my dog, I would be sad & maybe even hurt or angry, but if it was my fault the dog was loose & he was on their property harassing them I wouldn't think of hurting him or his animals b/c he protected himself &/or his stock. That's just plain i...

The replies I am hearing are insane. Whipping the guy's a.. & killing his animals?? Guys, this man was well w/in his LEGAL RIGHT to kill that dog. Look in any state law book. If the dog owner didn't want his dog killed he should have kept a better hold on his dog. A lot of folks here say the rabbit ...

I guess we will have to agree to disagree about the rabbit man. I feel that while it was sad he shot the dog, we do not know the whole story & should not IMO rush to condemn him. Not to mention that he was fully w/in his right to shoot any dog harassing his livestock. But that is JMHO. As for APBTs ...

As a previous poster said there is more to this story than meet the eye. For all we know strays may have been harassing this man's rabbits before & the pup was the dog that broke the camel's back. Or the man's kids may have been letting the pup out to play & the pup had been over there harassing his...

No, you're not being rude at all jogletree. You may be right. He has put doubts into my mind, that is for sure. And one reason we got beagles is b/c we were tried of aggressive dogs. And look what we ended up with. Go figure. lol. As a side note I went out to the kennel today to put pools out. Troub...

DEAD DOG WALKING, but for the life of me I don't know why he's still walking! We're soft-hearted I guess. We have buried a lot of dogs & over the years it has gotten harder for us, not easier. Plus, I want to make sure his behaviour isn't my fault. If my husband is right & I made him the way he is,...

Hi guys. Sorry I haven't written sooner. Thanks for all the great advice. And Alabama John, your offer is very kind. I truly appreciate it. Rob: There have been times I have thought about culling my hubby! But what wife hasn't? lol. (juuuust kidding!) Hondo: I have tried this the "alpha rollover." T...

Thanks for the info guys. Y'all are right - I don't want to have to do it, but after reading your posts I am confident if I did it I would not be in the wrong. I talked to my husband about it last night when I got home from work & he absolutely refuses to have Trouble euthed. He said I was being dra...

Thanks beagled1. I have worked w/ rescues too & have seen awful dogs turn out to be real sweethearts once they've been worked with. I guess that's why I'm rather hesitant right now - although I will admit Trouble was very close to being culled this morning. I am worring if it was environmental as he...

That's what I'm worried about Gus. Is the problem me? Did I do anything to make the dog this way? Would I be doing wrong if I culled him w/out first trying to help him overcome his problems? I'm not worried about a lawsuit as we have no children, get no visitors & if he were to get loose he'd run aw...

Whew. I feel better. It's a wonder what a little soap & water can do! ;) Thanks for the input guys. I was thinking the same thing myself. After his 5th ot 6th time of snapping at me today he came perilously close to getting a bullet. But again, I didn't want to act in haste. Luckily, we have no chil...
