All replies are good. Another thing you might try is run him with a female either coming or going out of heat. I had a young male not packing and by mistake ran him with a female coming in. He ran with her that day and packed ever since.

I wouldn't let it continue. Try one or two pups with the old dogs. It's hard to train that many pups at the same time.

Beagler's catalog

My countie's property tax office is online and has a map of the county showing parcels, property lines and owners name with address. The site also shows the same by satelite pictures. I've been looking at the satelite map for the last couple of weeks and I now probably know where every cutover is in...

When vegitation is killed by first frost, scenting is poor. I think its the worst conditions of the year. We're experiencing it now in central Carolina. Usually a good rain is needed to restore decent conditions.

Prior to my retirement I was running no more than twice a week with two retired guys that was running four or more mornings weekly. At that time it was very noticeable that my dogs had more excitement and desire than my friends dogs. Now that I've retired and run dogs everyother day, my dogs excitem...

During the first diamond poisonings I had 22 dogs and was feeding diamond. All my dogs showed aflotoxin symptoms but only two died. I went all the way with the situation, first the vet and later autopsies. I ask the vet and the state two questions. The first was, did this poisoning occur over an ext...

Yotes

I've been running a new area lately and I'm hearing yotes every morning. Yesterday one of my pups started baying like she was scared or lost. I've been carrying my camera and I recorded the dogs running on one side of the cutover and you can her the yotes howling on the other side. Is anybody seeing...

I have a tendency to put a pup by itself when riding to keep the other dogs from getting in the mess, however I've found if I put the pup in a crowded box he's less likely to get sick. Sometimes it stops it permanently.

There's a condition called reverse or inverted sneezing. The dog makes a snooring like sound while sucking air in. I've got some that does it. From what I've been told it's common and nothing to worry about. The next time one does it, grab his tail and lift his rear legs off the ground and set him b...

Inv. sneezing

I've had a male for 3 years and he occasionally has episodes of inverted sneezing. Since the episodes are so short and infrequent I've not taken him to the vet. I've also read and heard others say its nothing to worry about. I'm wondering if anyone had a hound that seemed to have more than his share...

Thanks for the replies. The swelling had gone down some this morning and he was feeling better. This afternoon I was surprised at his improvement. He ate as normal, was frisky and the swelling is almost gone. Thanks again.

Snakebite

Late this afternoon my dogs were excited and barking in the kennel. I went to check on them and found a copperhead in a run with two dogs. I saw fang marks on the noses of both dogs. One dog has two sets of marks and he's swelling and sick. The other dog has the marks but he's not sick or swelling. ...

About 3 years ago I found one of my females dragging her back legs. Her legs were streched backwards and she couldn't stand at all. I took her to the vet and he gave her a shot and bottle of pills. I put her in a small cage and in about a week she was able to stand. In another 4 months she was close...
