Question about doubling up on Branko's Jackpot
I am contemplating breeding a young female I have to colonel. She has outstanding hunt, good foot, good mouth, & brains. I have heard it said Jack could be over competitive at times. I've heard too much of certain dogs hurt you some but, was wondering some good or bad about this particular dog? Mayb...

Re: hare bred hounds X cottontail bred hounds
I don't think there is as much of a difference in the dogs as there is in the game they pursue IMHO. A cottontail has more erratic movement with many twist and turns. A Hare runs a straighter larger circle. Which one of these species will a dog be able to display more foot? My dogs have a lot of Bra...

Re: Nice female for sale
Don't take offense to this but, how is there two wager's dogs bred together make a Branko dog?
Talking about Branko's Great White Cooter, Just curious.

Re: RIP Brankos Red River Runner
Had the pleasure of meeting Matt and breeding to Runner last year. I have two 10 month old pups out of Runner that are going to make RABBIT hounds.
Sorry for your loss Matt.

Re: WHEN TO BREED A FEMALE
My vet said second day after blood turns clear. He said not all females cycle the same but, when you see the blood turn clear wait two days and you will hit her just about every time. It works for me.

Re: gw
your right mybeagle, Instead of adding anything with substance to the conversation from GW, it usually just turns into a mud fight. I am sure he is probably not that bad of a guy. Kinda like one of those hard seeds that get in your sock...irritating as hell but,no long term damage. his post are like...

Re: Superior Intelligence - A nice compliment for any hound!
GW, When a rabbit pulls a few tricks on a hound or hounds...you know, jumping on a log, backtrack then make big leaps to one side as some examples... is it a dogs "brain" that figures them out or is in their "blood"? I mean are they born with the ability to know these maneuvers? Or do they have to u...

Re: Question for the guys that trial mid west spo....
I guess I shouldn't have said specifically the mid west but, that's the one I was more interested in. Not trying to give anyone a black eye, and I know you can't see one cast and give a fair assessment. I did see enough that I wanted to try and find a dog to compete in that format. When I was fresh ...

Re: Question for the guys that trial mid west spo....
Thanks Jim, The male I have is pretty competitive and likes the front, he'll be two in July. I have been running him solo and mixing him with other dogs as much as possible. He seems to be coming along nicely but, just wondering when to throw him in with the big boys. The soloing after the trial is ...

Question for the guys that trial mid west spo....
What age do you start trialing your dogs? I know there will be some variances depending on the dogs but, seems some guys use a certain age as a base point. What types of changes do you see in the hounds you trial if any, Like acquiring some bad habits? I watched a cast of 15" males and not criticizi...
