With deep regret I am at the point of selling my only beagle. She is a 13 inch female and is about 17 months old. I am only selling this dog because after logging close to 40 hrs hunting time Ive seen 2 rabbits. I have hunted every piece of local public land and driven up to 2 hrs away with nothing....

Re: Wisconsin Rabbit Population
Yeah I have heard that they were in the low part of the cycle. I talked to a DNR person and they said that the havent peaked since the 80's. Though she said there are still hares to be found. I havent really got into hare country much, mostly been trying to find cottontails since they are closer by....

Is anyone in Wisconsin seeing many hares or cottontails? What type of cover are you looking for? I have been tromping all over the place and am not having much success seeing any rabbits. At first I thought maybe I am not hitting the right cover but since then I have kicked every brush pile from swa...

Just wanted to share a short video of my 13 inch running the other day. Now be easy on me, I know she has a mouth all of her own but she sure can run a rabbit!

Garmin Astro and Diamond Food
Hello, I am thinking of purchasing a Astro, but am concerned that my girl may be to small to tote this thing around. Anyone have any experience running smaller dogs with the astro? She is a 13 inch and about 17 pounds. Second, I am having a difficult time finding good quality dog food close by. I ha...

What do you use?
I have read a couple of posts and thought that I would ask what most of you use regularly on your dogs to keep them healthy such as: 1. Worms- I have read a couple of posts about ivomectin (spelling?). What all does this work for? 2. Flea, tick and mosquitoes ohh my. I live in Wisconsin so this is a...

Re: starting to wonder if its worth it.......
I know the feeling. A couple of years ago my lab got hit by a car and broke his leg. The vet rushed him into surgery and about 1500 dollars later they screwed his leg back together. A couple of weeks later the screws failed and we wound up having to have his leg amputated. I spoke with a specialist ...

Just got what I think is a real good deal on an e collar and wanted to share with anyone else who might be looking into getting one. I bought a reconditioned Beagler Pro from the collar clinic for 179.00. This is the second reconditioned e collar that I have bought from them, the first one (tri tron...

I was reading one of the current posts "True Beagles" and it got me thinking. Does anyone try and breed for both field and conformation? I know the last DC was Pebble Ridge Shadrack, but that was awhile ago. I am new to beagles but was heavily involved in Labs for awhile and seen such a difference b...

Re: Shock collar or tracking collar??
Thanks for the responses. So far three for the shock collar and three for the tracker!
As far as the type of cover I will be hunting, I have both! Broken woodlots with cottontails to the south and big open hare country to the north!
