Re: Beagles worse than. 20 years ago
So we need to focus less on breeding pedigrees and breed rabbit dogs? What a novel idea to improve the breed!

Re: Sportdog 3225
I have had my collars 2wks now, read manuals for the first week trying to get a better understanding of the collars and how to effectively train with them, and placed them on 2 kennel barkers this week, with good results. After some leash work I will move on to reinforce sit, come/here, and tally ho.

Re: Powdery snow, How do your hounds fair in it ?
We ran good yesterday, lots of losses but thats even with good conditions, so can't blame those on the snow. But had 7 good runs with 3 rabbits wounded, 1 harvested and the 3 making it to hole. Glad we got out, if nothing else it was good training time for the dogs.

Re: Tricks of the trade ?????
I use the rubber equine bowls, don't fill them all the way, and when they freeze just turn them upside down and step on(or stomp) to knock the ice out. And yes I water twice a day.

Re: Increase rabbit population???
You can smash the salt blocks with a sledge hammer and spread that way, what ever works and is the most economical was to get salt to them at breeding time.

Re: Increase rabbit population???
Build places for them to nest and hide like stacked scrap and wood pallets. Also put down salt blocks in the spring/summer breeding periods.
