Has she ran at night before? Had she been running and maybe was exhausted? Is she normally a very competitive hound? Maybe she was ill if that is out of character for her.

I ran mine for seven hours last week and they were still hunting when we decided to quit. Some are on Ol Roy and some are on Diamond 26%. I could see no difference in their performance.
If a beagle can't run for more than an hour it's probably the breeding and not the feed.

If the dog is three years old, has been started for over a year, and he knows to hark to the running pack, he either doesn't have the desire or speed to stay with them.

Maybe he is not a "me too" dog and wants some of the action but can't get it with the speed of rest of the pack. Sound familiar?

Dogs that won't hark up to a running pack are usually bred to be extremely independent and are of a slower speed than the pack.
